Can I book individual rooms?
No. Göltur is rented exclusively as a whole house, so the entire 9-bedroom farmhouse and its 700-acre estate are yours alone for the duration of your stay.
How many guests can stay at Göltur?
The house has nine bedrooms and sleeps up to 20 guests comfortably. For weddings and events, the property can host larger gatherings.
How far is Göltur from Reykjavík?
Göltur is approximately one hour's drive from Reykjavík, in the Grímsnes area at the heart of the Golden Circle.
Is the geothermal pool always available?
Yes. The private geothermal pool is fed by natural hot water from 400 metres below the earth and is available to guests throughout their stay, year round.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are not allowed at Göltur. Smoking is also not permitted inside the house.
Can we host a wedding or private event?
Yes. Göltur is a popular venue for weddings, retreats and milestone gatherings. Please send an inquiry with your dates and we will get back to you with availability and details.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 16:00 and check-out is by 11:00. Earlier or later times can sometimes be arranged on request.
How do we book?
Send an inquiry through our contact page with your dates, number of guests and any details about your trip. We respond personally to every inquiry.
What temperature is the geothermal pool?
The private 11 × 5 m geothermal pool is computer-controlled between 35 and 42 °C, so you can set it to suit your group. There is also an outdoor hot tub for soaking under the open sky.
Is the kitchen fully equipped for cooking for a large group?
Yes. The chef-ready kitchen is built to cook for a full house, with an espresso and pour-over coffee setup, extra fridge and freezer, a large paella pan, an outdoor gas BBQ and a dining table that seats 18.
Can you arrange a private chef?
Yes. We can arrange a private chef for tasting menus, family-style meals or event dinners — just let us know when you inquire and we'll connect you with one of our trusted local chefs.
Is Wi-Fi available throughout the house?
Yes. Strong wireless covers the whole property — good enough to work from if you want to extend your stay.
Can we fish in the lake?
Yes. We provide rods and tackle for lake fishing, and there's a direct footpath from the farmhouse down to the water. Guests need a valid Icelandic fishing permit.
Are the horses on the farm rideable?
The horses on Göltur are family-owned and live freely on the land. Guests are welcome to walk up and pet them, but they are not part of a riding programme. Several riding stables in the Golden Circle offer guided tours nearby.
Is the property family-friendly?
Yes. We can provide a travel cot and high chair on request, the geothermal pool has a gentle step-in for children with adult supervision, and the open meadows are perfect for ball games and outdoor play.
Can we see the northern lights from the farm?
On clear winter nights, yes. The farm sits well away from light pollution and we have an outdoor deck angled for aurora viewing.
Is there space for events like ceremonies or talks?
Yes. The open great room with its wood-burning fireplace is event-ready and hosts ceremonies, talks and dinners. The 700-acre estate also offers stunning outdoor settings for ceremonies in good weather.
