The property was beautiful. I could have spent the entire week exploring the grounds, fishing, and swimming. We had a family reunion with ages ranging from 7 to 70 and everyone loved it. I can't overstate how perfect everything was. Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this farmhouse north of Selfoss. Plenty of bedrooms and lots of space for our extended family gathering. We loved searching for the horses each day when coming and going and the kids spent so much time in the pool. It was so warm and a great way to end our sightseeing days.

Could not have asked for a more beautiful, peaceful place for our family of 8. Location was fantastic for day trips throughout southern Iceland. Selfoss was an easy 25 minutes for groceries. The pool was sublime to come back to in the evening. And the horses were the best welcoming committee ever.

Our family of 14 stayed here for 3 days in late June. The home was very clean and had all of your needs taken care of. Large kitchen and relaxing spaces. The pool was really nice for those cold and rainy days. The house is within 2 hours of everything south and south central. I highly recommend the property.

I rented this property for 19 of us, all family, to stay for one week. It was the perfect property for kids of all ages. Although it was remote, there was easy accessibility to Selfoss for groceries, the Golden Circle for sightseeing, the south coast for exploring, and the property itself was perfect for downtime. The pool was luxurious, clean and perfectly heated. The house itself accommodated all 19 of us easily. It was also clean, well appointed and stocked. We had an incredible family reunion, and I am definitely recommending this house to my friends for the future. The owners were lovely and easy to communicate with. And I cannot forget the horses — they were so sweet and fun for our little girls to pet.

Don't let the nine bedrooms discourage you from booking this wonderful farmhouse — instead, invite friends and family to fill the rooms! We were first drawn to the private geothermal pool, but were reluctant to book this property for our family of three. Ultimately, we invited family and friends to fill (most of) the rooms and it was the best vacation decision we have made in a long time. The hosts were instantly responsive and courteous from the booking process and throughout our stay. The kitchen is extraordinarily well equipped for cooking large family meals. The location is perfect for day trips to the South Coast and to sites in the North, all roughly within an hour or so by car. We spent the days exploring the Golden Circle only to return to cook and enjoy family meals and float in the geothermal pool while watching the Northern Lights. Book this one to reconnect with family and friends — wonderful property, location, and hosts. You won't have any regrets.

Our family, kids and grandkids decided to come to Iceland for a unique vacation. We never thought we would find a house large enough for all 17 of us. It is hard to tell from pictures about the size, but when we arrived and saw this property and all the amenities they gave us a standing ovation! Large kitchen with dining table, two refrigerators and very well equipped. The living room was very comfortable and big enough for everyone to sit for family time. The bedrooms are very nice and good size; the beds and linens are beautiful. Showers and toilets worked out fine. The owner was very responsive with every question we had. He also put us in contact with an Icelandic chef who came to the house and prepared an Icelandic meal for us, explaining traditional Icelandic food and giving us a new modern twist on every dish. Everyone loved feeding the horses every day — we spent more on bread and carrots for them than we did for the family. The geothermal pool was the absolute best; being in the pool in the rain was delightful. We took full advantage of this amenity. Although the farm is isolated, it was easy to get to various sites. Selfoss is about 15 minutes away and has shops, a grocery store, a liquor store, and some fabulous eating places. Highly recommend Göltur Farm for family vacations.

The pool really makes this property. We spent a lot of time in there. We got to experience the Northern Lights one of the nights, which was wonderful. Communication with the property owner was easy and prompt.

We had a family reunion at Göltur Farm. The property is amazing, sitting just off a beautiful lake with an amazing heated pool. We spent hours in the soothing 98°F water. The hosts were very helpful and there was everything at the house we needed for meals and communing. It is a beautiful setting with easy access to everything in south Iceland.

My husband and I rented the farmhouse for a long weekend to have our family join us for our wedding ceremony. The house has everything you could possibly need! The property is absolutely stunning and feels magical being surrounded by so much beauty. The pool is such a great feature — we spent so much time in it, especially having kids around they all loved it. The horses were tough to find sometimes but it was so fun to see them when they did make their way towards the fence by the house. We also hired the chef that the home owner recommended and she would get 5-star reviews from everyone! She did a big family-style meal on Friday evening and then came back Saturday and did a 4-course dinner for 18 people. I don't know how she did it but everything she served was delicious and timed well — we also got some leftovers! Not too far from shops/grocers and a good location to explore some of the iconic Iceland scenes. Wish I could live at this house :)

Could not ask for better accommodations. Truly a wonderful visit for our large group of 13 people. Also used her recommended chef Andri and that has been the most enjoyable meal of our trip. Feel so blessed to have an opportunity to stay here.

BOOK THIS. Don't hesitate even for a moment. This farm is probably the most spectacular place on Airbnb. I brought a group of 7, myself and 6 friends, for my bachelorette week in Iceland, and we stayed for a week at Goltur Farm. Áslaug was incredibly friendly and helpful from day 1, whenever we had questions or needed help. The place was perfectly clean and the kitchen is awesome for cooking. (Also, they recommended an INCREDIBLE private chef for a catered meal one night, so ask them about that!) The house is a farmhouse, it's not a marble-floor glass-wall modern villa, but that's part of its charm, and that's what we wanted. It's impeccably renovated and cared for. The farm… how can I possibly describe the beauty? We spent hours just roaming around and exploring the hills and valleys and the beautiful lake. There was a family of Arctic foxes that entertained us in one of the fields, and the horses are gorgeous. And the pool is perfect. I'm already planning my next trip here!

Absolutely as serene and peaceful as the pictures. The pool is amazing and the views are to die for. Everything you need to cater to a large crowd in the kitchen, plus an amazing wood burning oven outside. The hosts are super responsive and warm. There's a cute little shop for basics an 8 minute drive away, along with a nice restaurant, and a town with a grocery store that has everything you'd need 25 minutes away. Highly recommend!

If I could give the location 6 stars, I would! The description is a lot to live up to, and it does exactly that. It's a very impressive property with everything that you need for a large group. Gunnlaugur was very accommodating in the run up to our arrival and also on hand when we needed some help during our stay. Thanks for letting us stay!

Fantastic stay! I organised a work retreat so needed a large house with a bedroom for everyone. We chose to stay here to get a better Icelandic experience and be closer to different activities. It was remote enough to have a unique stay but relatively close enough to the city, hiking, biking, rafting, golf, waterfalls, restaurants etc, all within +/- an hour's drive. Communication with the owners was great, we are pretty low maintenance. Highly recommend!

Our family of 12 stayed at the property for our first visit to Iceland. Everything was perfect. The host was extremely helpful with all of our needs and even let us know about special events going on in the area. The location was great. The house was secluded with a beautiful lake and warm pool that everyone thoroughly enjoyed, but close to town and other attractions. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked with anything one would need. When we visit Iceland again, we will definitely stay at this property again. Highly recommend!!!

Gunnlaugur's place was the perfect environment to host a group of 16. We didn't end up renting cars and had tour companies pick and drop us off. We were able to catch the northern lights one night from the front yard, that was a highlight for sure! The pool was also nice and toasty :)

Gunnlaugur accommodated our large wedding party during our stay. EVERYTHING about this place is so special. On the second night there, many of us were enjoying the pool and after an hour or so, looked up and watched the northern lights dance. The land is stunning, the horses are gorgeous, the amenities are plenty, I could go on and on. We hyped up this listing to all our guests and thankfully we were way more impressed than we could have expected.

Awesome place! My friends & I stayed here recently & couldn't have been happier. Gunnlaugur was an amazing host, really went out of his way to help us — from meeting us in Reykjavik to guide us out to the house to showing us around, providing plenty of towels & house slippers to giving us bubbles & chocolates, what a guy! The location of the house was absolutely stunning, views of the lake from the house were just amazing. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights :) The house itself was really well equipped & has plenty of space for big groups, the geothermal pool is probably the best feature of this awesome place. Couldn't recommend staying here enough!

Wow! What an amazing place. Gunnlaugur couldn't have been more accommodating. He was always on hand to help and went above and beyond to ensure we (all 16 of us) had an amazing stay at the beautiful farmhouse. The farm, its amenities, and surreal setting is a truly special place. As a large group we never felt on top of one another as the house is split over three levels. The pool absolutely wonderful and with the panoramic views and great outdoor sound system was without a doubt one of my highlights. The farm is diverse in its natural beauty and has mountains, lakes, horses, trails, and even its own island! Thank you Gunnlaugur for helping us create such great memories… we will be back for more.

The farmhouse is easy to find using the GPS coordinates. It was spotless and the kitchen extremely well stocked — numerous herbs, spices, coffee, cutlery and dishes enough to serve our 30 guests for dinner. Rooms span three floors so guests had ample private space. The heated pool was clean and very warm with great accessories, and there's a BBQ with a full tank of gas. Gunnlaugur went above and beyond — his hospitality and personal touches far exceeded our expectations. We were staying for our wedding, held in the field behind the house, and there were numerous touches that made our stay special: a large bouquet at the entry, individual flower arrangements in each room, chocolate and sparkling wine. Rooms were configured based on our guests and name tags printed for each room. We stayed over Christmas and Gunnlaugur set up a real Christmas tree for us. He also suggested a fantastic private chef for our wedding meal — an amazing experience. The best host we have ever dealt with on Airbnb. It was truly a privilege to stay at the farmhouse and we will forever cherish our time there.

Great location (once you've found it) and just a lovely place to be. Heated outdoor pool with a view was a well used novelty.

Gunnlaugur's home is a beautiful farmhouse located within a short drive of the Golden Circle. The home sits on a sizable amount of private land and allows you to feel as though you're away from it all. The home is spacious and well appointed and would suit the needs of most anyone. Gunnlaugur is a great and attentive host who wants to see you enjoy your vacation in southern Iceland. You will not be disappointed with the property, its beautiful views, or the hospitality of your host.

22 of my family members from the US stayed here during a special family reunion and anniversary celebration for my elderly parents. The house easily accommodated all of us, never feeling crowded. The amazing and gorgeous property afforded lots of opportunity for small groups or couples to go on walks, experience the vistas, pet the horses etc. The pool is a real highlight — super warm and buoyant water with a view to die for. The location is perfect — an easy 20 min drive into Selfoss for groceries, 40 min to Golden Circle highlights and an hour to South Coast waterfalls. At my request Gunnlaugur connected me with an exceptional Icelandic chef who cooked an amazing 4 course meal for all 22 of us. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

The Farmhouse is amazing and the location was perfect for our dream wedding! We had every view imaginable and barely even got outside the main house! Not only is the place amazing, but close enough to hit everything in the Golden Circle during a short stay. Gunnlaugur was available for anything we needed and even had a new high chair delivered the next morning when we found the tray missing. Unbelievable service and attention to guests. Can't recommend his place or the people more. Thank you for helping make our wedding dreams come true in Iceland!

It's impossible to put into words how happy we are that we chose this house for our small intimate wedding! Absolutely everything was perfect! Gunnlaugur and his family went beyond perfection cleaning the place and they left us huge bouquets of flowers. In reality the house looks even better than on the photos, a truly magical place that you will never want to leave! The land is beautiful, we had our ceremony outside and the view was wonderful! You have complete isolation and peace. The thermal pool was perfect to relax after the long, tiring days. Our guests already started to ask if we can all celebrate our one year anniversary in the same place!

Our group of 13 stayed in Gunnlaugur's home for three nights / four days in May. He even met us in Reykjavik to escort us to the house. After a roughly 50 min drive we arrived at a gorgeous, remote plot of land with a field full of Icelandic horses, a beautiful renovated farmhouse and a geothermal pool perfect for swimming year round. The bedrooms are comfortable, the house is well appointed, the kitchen features every amenity you could possibly need, and there were enough bathrooms for our large group. We had an incredible experience in Iceland thanks in large part to Gunnlaugur. If I ever have the chance to return I will 100% book here again.

This is the best Airbnb experience most of us have ever had in my large group of 20. Most of us agree this is probably the BEST Airbnb in this part of Iceland. Already looking to come back again. Gunnlaugur's treatment reminds me of what Airbnb was supposed to be. He offered to lead us to his house from the airport, explained everything in the house, even installed waterproof speakers by the pool so we could enjoy music in the wet season. We were able to see the northern lights at night because it is so dark there! So thoughtful with details and recommendations — store closing hours, restaurant recs, paper plates, and plastic cups to enjoy a drink in the pool. There were 3 towels per person and he even provided slippers and chocolate. The pool was the highlight of this fantastic property.

From the moment we made our reservation Gunnlaugur was an absolutely incredible host. Since we were using his farmhouse for work (7 colleagues) and required a good internet connection, Gunnlaugur went out of his way to build an additional antenna on his roof to increase data speed for us and lent us 3 of his personal computer monitors to use during our trip — truly a host that goes the extra mile! Upon arrival he met us in Reykjavik and led us out across the beautiful Icelandic countryside to the farmhouse that has been in his family for several generations. The property is beautiful — a 3-level house completely private, with a geothermal heated pool overlooking the lake that is absolutely incredible and definitely our favorite part of the house. Gunnlaugur has an incredible home in a gorgeous place. Our only wish is that we could stay longer but we plan on coming back again.

Gunnlaugur and his family have done an amazing renovation of this old farmhouse in the Icelandic countryside. Gunnlaugur is an amazing host and nothing was ever a problem. The property itself is fantastic and very clean. The facilities within the kitchen are ideal for large groups and the geothermal hot tub with a BBQ is a must. The bedrooms are all first class and the host has remembered every little detail including wifi and DVDs to watch at night. This is somewhere that we would definitely return to as a group in the future, and we will also be recommending it to others — excellent for groups who want to be away from the hustle and bustle of life and enjoy the Icelandic countryside.
